    • [Near Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park] Experience Japanese culture, art, and spirituality through calligraphy at a long-established folk craft shop surrounded by ukiyo-e prints. Calligraphy is an art form, a symbol of Japanese culture, and also a form of meditation that calms the mind. In this experience, a professional calligrapher will provide clear and careful instruction, even for beginners. The venue is "Bonkogei Takumi," a long-established folk craft shop that has been in business for 50 years. In a quiet and highly artistic space surrounded by ukiyo-e prints, you can feel close to traditional Japanese culture. Using handmade brushes made in Kumano, Hiroshima Prefecture, the number one town in Japan for brush making, you will learn the basics of brush usage and try your hand at hiragana and kanji. The completed work will be made into a fan or shikishi (decorative paper board), which you can take home as a one-of-a-kind souvenir of Japanese culture. Recommended for those new to calligraphy or those interested in Japanese culture. All materials are provided, so you can participate empty-handed. Experience Flow: ■ Introduction to calligraphy tools ■ Practice of basic lines (dots, horizontal lines, sweeps, etc.) ■ Practice of hiragana and kanji ■ Choose your favorite words or kanji and write them neatly on a fan or shikishi (decorative paper) → You can take home a one-of-a-kind "handwritten fan or shikishi". Recommended for: ✔ Those trying calligraphy for the first time ✔ Those who love Japanese culture ✔ Those who want to express their thoughts in writing Photo service (free) Our staff will take photos of you during the experience and give you the data. Please enjoy them as a memento of your trip.
