This tour is not just a Kyudo experience, but a special journey into the profound world of Kyudo and Zen.
This is a journey of the heart where you can learn about the life and spirituality of Awa Kenzo, known as the "Saint of Archery," and experience the profound teachings of Zen through Kyudo.
The highlight of the tour is a visit to the grave of Awa Kenzo Sensei and an experience of Kyudo at a traditional site. At the historic Shohoji Temple, where he rests, you will spend a moment of peace and remembrance of his teachings. Afterwards, at the traditional Ishinomaki Kyudo Hall, built by Saijo Keishiro, a disciple of Awa Kenzo Sensei, you will don a kyudo uniform, learn etiquette, and shoot a bow, providing a valuable opportunity to calm your mind and reflect on yourself.
"Zen and the Archery" by German philosopher Eugen Herrigel is a beloved book by many people, including Steve Jobs, and is widely known in the West. By studying the teachings of Kenzo Awa, who influenced "Zen and the Archery," you will gain a deeper understanding of how the techniques of Kyudo and the spirit of Zen are connected.
