- Takino Snow World Located on the outskirts of Sapporo,
Takino Snow World is a prime winter leisure spot where you can enjoy the best of Hokkaido's cold season. Spanning a vast snowy plain, it offers a wide variety of activities for everyone from beginners to experts, including snow tubing, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. The most popular attraction is the tube sliding, where you zip down a long slope all at once—bringing cheers of excitement from children and adults alike. Beyond snow play, winter nature walks are another highlight, allowing you to fully take in Hokkaido's grand scenery in the crisp, clear air.
- Takino Cemetery's Snow-Covered Moai Statues and Hill of the Buddha
Makomanai Takino Cemetery is a sightseeing spot that takes on an even more mystical charm during the winter. The giant Moai statues lining the grounds are covered in snow, enhancing their mysterious aura and making you feel as though you have stepped into another world. In addition, the "Hill of the Buddha," designed by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando, is an absolute must-see (admission fee required). The beauty of its exposed concrete architecture harmonizing with the snowy landscape is simply breathtaking, and the serene presence of the Great Buddha leaves a deep impression on all who visit. It is a truly special destination where culture and art blend together, offering a majestic landscape unique to Hokkaido's winter.
