Sun Moon Lake

If walking is too much for you, I recommend taking a boat ride around the lake. There's a walking trail just past Shuishe Pier. It's a long stretch, so I didn't complete it, but the path from temple to temple was lined with trees, making it pleasantly cool and comfortable.

It departed from Gancheong Station. Even the staff didn't know much, so I got lost a few times, but you can just scan the QR code on the scanner, select the language, and then issue the ticket. Since it's a round trip, you can print it out twice. At the stop you're going to, show your ticket, and you'll receive a waiting ticket. At the stop you're returning to, you can just line up, scan your ticket, and board without a waiting ticket.

Initially, I was planning to go to Sun Moon Lake on my own, but I chose this tour because it included the ropeway and boat rides I wanted and I didn't have to arrange buses myself. As a result, it was not only easy, but also included explanations from a friendly and interesting guide (Chinese and English only, no Japanese), lunch, cycling, a temple, and a souvenir shop (they only recommended some award-winning sweets during toilet breaks, so there was no pushy salesmanship), so I felt like I was able to do everything I wanted in one day.
