The tour guide was professional, and despite the hot weather, reminded everyone to bring enough water. He explained the scenery and historical anecdotes very clearly. We were also lucky to encounter calm seas!
This is truly a traditional cultural experience worth seeing. I think every Taiwanese person should come and see it at least once in their lifetime. We were lucky this time; the waves weren't too big, the boatman's service was excellent, the overall environment was clean and tidy, and the food was delicious. It's a pity that the fishing experience was a bit short; it seems like everyone on the boat was caught fishing, so I guess no one was quite satisfied!
I rarely have the opportunity to go boating. Although I've fished on the river and rock fishing before, this was my first time sea fishing from a boat. I'm grateful for the owner's explanation before the trip, and also for the captain's professional understanding of the fish's movements, which allowed us to truly feel the excitement and thrill of the fish taking the bait. It was my first time experiencing the joy of sea fishing with my son and other family members, and I look forward to the next opportunity.
It's incredibly hot on the island in summer, but the ferry company thoughtfully provides iced bottled water. The gift bags contain sunscreen, sports drinks, and snacks – very practical! Due to the heat, it's best to wear a hat and long-sleeved clothing. A fan and plenty of water are essential. The shady spots on the island are cool, but be aware of mosquitoes, so bring both mosquito repellent and sunscreen! The tour guide is professional and a great photographer, but because the trails are narrow and many groups are on the island at the same time, stay close to him to avoid getting mixed up with other groups! 🤣 The lighthouse isn't tall, but the trails are very steep, and with the heat and lack of shade in some sections, it's quite physically demanding. Bring honey to replenish electrolytes! From Taipei, you can take bus 1579 directly from Yuanshan Bus Station to Badouzi Fishing Port – public transportation is very convenient!
I chose this trip to see what Taiwan looked like when the Dutch first described Formosa. It was really sunny; I wore shorts and a t-shirt and my face was sunburned when I got back, haha. The caves were very cool, and the sea breeze made a difference. I couldn't go around the island, so I only walked halfway through the trail, but it was still a great experience. The lighthouse was also a nice addition. The boat trip route had quite a lot of waves.
