This off-the-beaten-path experience was fantastic! Karuizawa offered fresh air and European elegance, providing a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle. A visit to Hikawa Shrine added a touch of solemnity and romance. Finally, stepping into Kawagoe's Little Edo felt like stepping back in time; the quaint streets and clock tower exuded a nostalgic atmosphere. While the initial choice of an outlet mall was slightly compromised by a change to Hoshino Resorts on the same day, the entire day's itinerary, combining natural beauty, cultural depth, and historical atmosphere, made for a profound and therapeutic day trip.
The tour guide was very experienced. Fukiwari Falls is quite unique, unlike anything I'd ever imagined, and definitely worth seeing. The crab feast was an overwhelming amount of food; the crabs were huge, and there was also a large plate of fried mushrooms, beef, and soup. Except for the freshly grilled beef and soup, everything else was cold, and the crabs were just thawed. They were delicious, but having to peel them made the meal rushed. The subsequent apple picking was also all-you-can-eat, but even just one apple was more than you could eat. I really wish they could have negotiated that if each person could eat one apple or less, they could take it home in a bag 🥲. Kawagoe and Hikawa Shrine are both lovely little places, and it was a bit rushed to see everything, but just soaking in the atmosphere was wonderful.
