Located at the highest point of Oshima Island in Kesennuma, the Kameyama Observatory is the best spot to enjoy views of the Sanriku Coast and Kesennuma Bay. - Kesennuma Kiarashi (Sea Fog)
Every year during the autumn and winter mornings, when cold air meets the warmer sea surface, a phenomenon known as 'Kiarashi' occurs, where mist floats above the water. - Minamisanriku SUNSUN Shopping Street
A reconstruction shopping street created by local merchants, featuring a variety of restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops. In addition to enjoying fresh seafood and local delicacies from Minamisanriku, you can also purchase local specialties and experience the vibrant atmosphere of the port town.
- Roadside Station Oya Coast
Located along the Sanriku Coast, Roadside Station Oya Coast is a popular rest stop for enjoying the beautiful Pacific scenery. The vast ocean views and blue sky create a picturesque setting. Through life-sized models and exhibits, the museum introduces the ecology of sharks and Kesennuma's unique shark culture, making it a popular spot to learn about local seafood and the region's charm. - Kesennuma City Great East Japan Earthquake Memorial Museum
Opened in 2019, this facility is dedicated to the Great East Japan Earthquake. The building preserves the former schoolhouse of the Miyagi Kesennuma Koyo High School. Combined with exhibition spaces, it uses disaster ruins and related materials to help visitors understand the impact of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake on the Kesennuma region and the local recovery process, passing on precious lessons in disaster prevention and memory.
Michinoku Coastal Trail Plan A: ① Start from 'Tatsugane-san Summit Entrance' and hike to 'Namako-ishi (Sea Cucumber Rock)', covering approximately 5.77 km with a hiking time of about 3 hours. ② Start from 'Old Kesennuma Road Entrance' and hike to 'Minamisanriku Marine Visitor Center', covering approximately 7.53 km with a hiking time of about 3 hours and 30 minutes.
Michinoku Coastal Trail Plan B: ① Start from 'Iwaizaki Park' and hike to 'Merry Land Kesennuma', covering approximately 6.4 km with a hiking time of about 3 hours. ② Start from 'Hikado Fishing Port' and hike to 'Koganezawa Station', covering approximately 6.59 km with a hiking time of about 3 hours.
Michinoku Coastal Trail Plan C: ① Start from 'Osaki Shrine' and hike to 'Ogama Parking Lot', covering approximately 7.28 km with a hiking time of about 3 hours and 50 minutes. ② Start from 'Ryumaizaki' and hike to 'Uranohama Fishing Port', covering approximately 4.62 km with a hiking time of about 2 hours and 15 minutes. ③ Start from 'Kameyama Parking Lot' and hike to 'Sannohama Turning Point', covering approximately 2.58 km with a hiking time of about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Michinoku Coastal Trail Hike Plan D: ① From 'Taiken Azumaya' to 'Ryumaizaki,' approximately 7.11 km, approx. 3 hours and 10 minutes of hiking. ② From 'Kesennuma Shark Museum' to 'Kesennuma Bay Crossing Bridge,' approximately 7.1 km, approx. 4 hours of hiking.
