  • About a 5-minute walk from Kiyomizu-dera, Kyoto. A special calligraphy experience where you can calm your mind and enjoy the five senses in a space surrounded by Kyoto's nature and tranquility. This is a unique mindfulness calligraphy experience developed and supervised by calligraphers active both domestically and internationally, and mental wellness experts. It begins with a quiet meditation to calm the mind and face yourself. Slowly grind the ink, and engage with calligraphy through your five senses while being conscious of the scent of the ink, the touch of the brush, the sound, and your breathing. From the 262 characters of the Heart Sutra, choose the one that resonates with your heart right now, and under the careful guidance of a calligrapher, write each stroke with all your heart. Calligraphy beginners are welcome to participate with peace of mind. At the end, reflect on the time spent with yourself while enjoying tea and Japanese sweets. You can take home your finished shikishi artwork in a special frame as a precious memento. This is a high-quality, small-group cultural experience limited to 8 people, where you can calm your mind in the tranquility of Kyoto, something you cannot experience through sightseeing alone.
