Myoban Yunosato: Private Hot Spring Experience
Welcome to a mountainside hot spring paradise that looks and feels like a step back in time. Myoban Yunosato is famous for its iconic "Yunohana-goya" a traditional, straw-roofed huts used since the Edo period (over 300 years ago) to harvest rare, natural hot spring mineral powders.
Here, you will skip the public baths and check into your own 100% private outdoor rental cabin (Kazokuyu). For 60 minutes, you can soak in the milky-white, sulfur-rich healing waters in complete privacy. The mineral properties here are renowned for beautifying the skin and relieving fatigue.
Myoban Jigoku: Walking Among Steaming Earth
Witness the raw, dramatic power of the earth at Myoban Jigoku (Myoban Hell). Unlike the more commercialized "Hells" in central Beppu, this hidden gem offers a rustic, authentic, and close-up look at Beppu's geothermal activity.
As you walk along the scenic walking trails, you will be surrounded by rising plumes of volcanic steam, bubbling mud, and the distinct aroma of sulfur. Your guide will explain the fascinating science of how the local topography traps minerals, and you will get a fantastic panoramic view of the historic village and the Myoban toll bridge contrasted against the smoking landscape.
Okamoto-ya: Savoring Legendary Geothermal Delicacies
No trip to Myoban is complete without visiting Okamoto-ya, a beloved local institution operating since 1955. This charming, rustic shop is world-famous for pioneering "Jigoku-mushi" (Hell-steaming), a traditional cooking method that uses pure volcanic steam straight from the earth.
Included in your tour is their legendary Jigoku Purin (Geothermal Custard Pudding), a melt-in-your-mouth dessert with a perfectly bittersweet caramel sauce, along with a savory, naturally infused hard-boiled onsen egg. This stops doubles as your lunch break. You are free to purchase additional local specialties at your own expense, such as their popular hot spring-steamed Udon noodles or savory rice balls, while enjoying stunning views of the valley.

Sulfur Onsen Properties
The water at Myoban Onsen is highly acidic and sulfur-rich (milky white). It is celebrated for its health benefits, but it can tarnish jewelry. Please remove all silver, gold, and metal accessories before entering the bath. If you have extremely sensitive skin, please consult your doctor beforehand.


Dietary & Allergies
The included "Jigoku Purin" (pudding) contains eggs and dairy. If you have food allergies or strict dietary restrictions (such as vegan or gluten-free), please inform us upon booking.


Lunch at Own Expense
While the pudding and one boiled egg are included, the main lunch at Okamoto-ya is a "free-choice meal" at your own expense. Cash is highly recommended at this shop.


Public Transit Tour
This tour utilizes Beppu's local public bus system to experience the city like a resident. It involves a moderate amount of walking, including some uphill slopes and stairs in the historic Myoban district. Comfortable walking shoes are required.

Reminders

  • You will receive a detailed map of the meeting point at Beppu Station prior to the tour date. Please check your messages/email regularly.

  • Please ensure you have access to the internet on the day of the tour. We will provide a WhatsApp contact number for any last-minute communication or if you have trouble finding the guide.

  • Please bring your own bath towel and face towel for the hot spring experience. Towels can also be purchased at the shop.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations 11 day(s) (inclusive) before the selected date are allowed. Unused orders can be canceled for free
  • For cancellations made 8 to 10 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 20% will apply
  • For cancellations made 2 to 7 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 30% will apply
  • For cancellations made 1 to 1 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 40% will apply
  • Cancellation is not allowed between 0–0 days from the selected date. Orders cannot be canceled or modified, and refunds will not be granted.
NOTE
  • Due to time zone differences, the confirmed cancellation date is based on the supplier’s local time. Please allow 2–5 business days to process your cancellation request, after which the cancellation fee will be charged according to the product’s cancellation policy. Once the cancellation is confirmed, you will receive your refund within 14 working days.
