"Owara Kaze no Bon" Festival and Kamikochi/Hida Takayama 2-Day Tour

A Toyama Prefecture autumn tradition boasting a history of over 300 years!

Owara Kaze no Bon (Etchu Yatsuo)

The Owara Kaze no Bon festival features the melancholic sounds of the shamisen, kokyu, and taiko drums, along with soulful songs, as dancers expressively dance and walk through the streets.

The song and dance, which have been passed down for over 300 years, are richly lyrical and dignified, possessing a graceful charm amidst a melancholic tone.

The sight of thousands of paper lanterns illuminating the streets, amidst the old-fashioned townscape with its lattice-doored houses and earthen storehouses, is truly magical.

It's one of the nation's leading festivals, attracting approximately 200,000 spectators over three days.

Reminders

  • A minimum of 18 traveler(s) are required for the tour to depart. If the number of participants does not reach the minimum requirement, the tour will be canceled. An email regarding tour cancellation will be sent 21 day(s) before the departure date

  • The venue will be very crowded. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes you are used to.

  • Even in the event of rain, the Owara Kaze no Bon festival is often spontaneously started by locals (on a whim), making it extremely difficult to decide whether to cancel. The decision will be made on-site before or after arrival, so the tour will generally depart even in the event of rain. If the Owara Kaze no Bon festival is canceled due to severe weather after departure, the tour price will not be refunded. The "town procession" does not have a fixed time or location, so it is not guaranteed that you will be able to see it.

  • We are scheduled to arrive back at the hotel around midnight (24:00) after the viewing. Please note that this may change significantly depending on the timing of the Owara Kaze no Bon festival and road conditions.

  • The operating hours for the hotel's large public bath and open-air bath are 15:00 to 24:00 and 6:00 to 10:00 the following day. Since you will be arriving at the hotel late at night after visiting the Owara Kaze no Bon festival, you may not be able to use the facilities on the first day.

  • The Kamikochi tour will focus on the area around Kappa Bridge. Please note that you will not be able to disembark from the bus at Taisho Pond or other locations along the way.

  • Please note that the order of the itinerary may be changed.

  • The Japanese-style twin rooms at Takayama Sakuraan feature low beds placed on a tatami mat floor.

  • A fee of 1,500 yen per meal will be charged for any changes to the meal plan due to food allergies, religious reasons, etc., plus any difference in price. Please notify us at least 14 days before your departure date. For requests made after that, please contact us to discuss.

  • As each train tour is booked as a group, depending on the number of participants, the train's seating arrangement, and seat availability, seats may be separated (front and back) or you may be asked to share a seat with other passengers. Please understand this in advance.

  • Please note that you may be sharing a seat with other passengers on the bus.
