— Attraction Introduction —

  • Jiaobanshan Park
Also known as 'Fuxing Park,' it is located on the southwest side of Jiaobanshan and covers a vast area. Upon entering the park, the first thing that catches your eye is the emerald archway formed by intertwined branches (these are two banyan trees planted by Chiang Kai-shek and his wife). Everywhere you look, there are towering ancient trees, lush flowers, and dense shade, creating a fresh and pleasant atmosphere. 'Plum Blossom Viewing at Jiaobanshan' is one of the Eight Views of Taoyuan, and the widespread plum forests are its most striking feature. During the blooming season, the serene and elegant sea of flowers is mesmerizing. In late autumn, the maple leaves contrast with the green forest, adding a unique charm to the park. A stone staircase in the corner of the park leads to the banks of the Dahan River, and a suspension bridge connects to the Xikou Terrace on the opposite side. The terrace features a four-tiered landscape surrounded by narrow valleys and towering peaks, with the Dahan River winding alongside. From the stone stairs, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the mountains and water. On the right side of the park is the former residence of President Chiang Kai-shek, which maintains its original furnishings. On the left, under the pine trees, you can overlook the canyon scenery and the Xikou Valley. Inside the residence, there is a mysterious tunnel that served as a wartime command post located within the cave, which is now open for public viewing. Adventurous visitors should definitely check it out.

  • Lalashan — Daguan Mountain Nature Reserve
Located at the border of Fuxing District, Taoyuan City and Wulai District, New Taipei City, it was originally called Lalashan and renamed Daguan Mountain in 1975. In the Atayal language, it means 'beautiful.' Established as a nature reserve in 1986, it covers the mountainous area near Baling on the Northern Cross-Island Highway and is a famous state-owned forest in Taiwan. The giant cypress trees, beech, Taiwan cypress, Formosan black bears, macaques, Mikado pheasants, and sambar deer within the park are listed as national protected species. The Daguan Mountain Nature Reserve covers an area of approximately 6,390 hectares and is the place with the freshest air in Northern Taiwan. The reserve boasts precious cypress forests, broad-leaved mixed forests, and natural forests, and is famous for its natural giant red cypress trees. Currently, the Hsinchu Forest District Office of the Forestry Bureau manages 22 registered giant trees, which can be viewed along the 3.7-kilometer trail. It is an ideal forest bathing site and ecological classroom. The trees are approximately 500 to 3,000 years old, with the No. 5 giant tree being the oldest at 2,800 years. The No. 18 giant tree ranks first with a trunk circumference of 188 meters. The No. 9 Taiwan cypress giant tree is located at an altitude of 1,500 to 1,600 meters and is an evergreen conifer with both ornamental and practical value, making it a rare sight in the mountains. When visiting, don't forget to breathe in the natural phytoncides and appreciate the wonders of the local flora and fauna.
June to August is the peach harvest season. Thanks to the favorable climate and environment of Lalashan in Taoyuan, the peaches grown here are large and fragrant, making them highly popular. High-altitude Lalashan not only offers stunning mountain scenery but also many peach orchards and farms. In spring, the peach blossoms bloom, painting the entire mountain in a soft pinkish-red, making it a famous spot for blossom viewing. By summer, they turn into sweet, juicy peaches that visitors can enjoy!

  • Daxi Old Street
One of the few well-preserved Baroque architectural complexes in Northern Taiwan. During the Japanese colonial period (Taisho era), the Baroque style was popular. On old streets like Heping Road and Zhongshan Road, various shops integrated Baroque ornamentation with traditional Southern Fujian decorative patterns, including Greek pediments, Roman columns, and Chinese motifs like fish and bats symbolizing good fortune, creating a unique Daxi style. It is remarkable that despite the decline of river transport and the passage of time, these three old streets have retained their original appearance. Combined with the other cultural and historical charms of Daxi District, they allow the area to regain its past glory. Following in the footsteps of our predecessors, you have the chance to see many traditional Taiwanese snacks and experience Taiwanese folk toys. In particular, Daxi dried tofu, moon cakes, peanut brittle, tofu pudding, savory rice pudding (wa-gui), and tangyuan are authentic Taiwanese delicacies not to be missed! Arriving here feels like stepping back into the early Republic of China era, and the various antiques and snacks on the old street will accompany you through an intellectual and enjoyable time.
