Nakatsu

The best times to visit are in spring for cherry blossom viewing and in autumn for maple leaf viewing, especially at Yema Creek and Golden Scale Lake.

Yamakei Lake, Kinrin Lake and Beppu Jigoku Onsen are must-see attractions in Nakatsu. Yabakei offers a superb view of colorful maple leaves and rock peaks. Lake Kinrin is famous for hot springs and cold springs emerging from the bottom of the lake. Beppu Jigoku Onsen attracts a large number of tourists because of the different colors of the spring water.
