Because of the large group, hiring a car and planning your own itinerary to visit more distant attractions and hotels is really easy and convenient. They'll notify you before departure to create a LINE group, so you don't have to worry about not being able to contact the driver. Highly recommended.

The advantage of joining a KKday day tour is that you don't need to drive yourself, research car rentals, or book ferry tickets. You can simply catch a nap on the bus and walk around afterward! 😆 Our guide, Ms. Kong, was incredibly precise with the time and also introduced Kumamoto's delicious food, fun activities, and historical stories on the bus! Although there were over 40 people in our group, almost all were adults, so they were very quiet and punctual, making for a great experience. However, this full-day itinerary was quite tiring. If you prefer a smaller group, a less rushed itinerary, and need ample time for meals, shopping, or leisurely walking, you might want to consider this. The trip from Kumamoto to Miyazaki and Aso was easy. The tour guide shared a lot of Kumamoto history, which was very enriching. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible in the afternoon; a downpour in Aso obscured everything, leaving only a vast expanse of white grass. The driver was very friendly and diligently learning Chinese! I hope to have better weather next time to see Mount Aso.
