The Sapporo-Asahikawa trip, a 2.5-hour one-way trip, was very well-organized, with our guide and driver providing excellent explanations. We even managed to catch a nap on the bus. Despite the snow and strong winds, the ride was smooth and reassuring. The zoo wasn't large, perfect for walking around and taking photos; the penguins and other small animals were truly adorable. Having visited various snow-covered areas in Tohoku and Hokkaido, the thin layer of snow covering the frozen Blue Pond felt incredibly realistic and memorable. Shirahige Falls was a convenient stop, but it was still okay. Our guide, Ms. Jia, was very kind and recommended it.
It was a fantastic trip! Although there was a lot of travel time, under the guidance of our tour guide, Xiao Hong, we not only visited the attractions but also gained a deeper understanding of their backgrounds and stories (Xiao Hong explained everything in Chinese, English, and Korean). Luckily, we encountered the first snowfall at Cheongji Pond, which was absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much, Xiao Hong, for your meticulous guidance!
The visit to Asahiyama Zoo is relatively short; if you want to see multiple animals, you can download a map and plan your route beforehand. The lunch restaurant takes a long time to prepare, and the food is just average; you can buy some food at the rest stop. The Blue Pond and Shirahige Falls are quite beautiful, and the scenery from the bus is also quite nice. Tour guide Yan is very nice; he provides explanations in Chinese, English, and Japanese and will even help you take photos.
I participated in the illumination tour this time. Our driver, Mr. Xiao, was very punctual in arranging the itinerary. In Biei, we had some delicious soup curry. The journey was beautiful; we visited Shirahige Falls and then the Blue Pond. The illumination was absolutely stunning. This trip was truly wonderful.
