The temperature at Shei-Pa Farm is about 10 degrees lower than on the plains, so please bring warm clothes. Please bring your own non-slip shoes for walking on the trail.
The Wufeng Visitor Center is primarily situated at the border of Wufeng Township in Hsinchu County and Tai'an Township in Miaoli County, at an altitude of approximately 1,800 meters. It serves as a crucial entrance to Shei-Pa National Park, renowned for its high mountain forests, sea of clouds, and rich biodiversity. Visitors typically reach this area by following mountain roads from the direction of Hsinchu or Miaoli.
The Wufeng area of Shei-Pa National Park is generally open. However, it's advisable to check the official website of the Shei-Pa National Park Administration before your trip for the latest accessibility information, especially after special weather events like typhoons or heavy rainfall. There are typically no special entry restrictions for general visitor areas and open trails. However, if you plan to visit ecological protection areas or restricted zones, an application for permission is required in advance.
The Wufeng area offers unique charm throughout the four seasons. In spring (approximately March-May), you can enjoy the blooming of cherry blossoms and various wildflowers. Summer (approximately June-August) offers a cool and pleasant climate, ideal for escaping the heat and observing abundant wildlife. Autumn (approximately September-November) has stable weather, making it the best season to witness sea of clouds, stunning sunsets, and the Holy Ridge. In winter (approximately December-February), if a cold snap occurs, there's a chance to see rime or snow. Considering comfort and scenery, spring and autumn are often the preferred seasons for many visitors.
In spring, cherry blossoms and azaleas bloom vibrantly, creating a colorful spectacle. Summer is a prime destination for escaping the heat, offering cool weather and opportunities to observe diverse insects and birds. Autumn boasts clear skies with the highest probability of seeing sea of clouds, beautiful sunsets, and the famous Holy Ridge, providing excellent vistas ideal for photography. During winter cold snaps, you might witness rime ice transforming the forests into a dreamlike, silver-white landscape, offering a unique winter ambiance.
The Shei-Pa Wufeng area offers a variety of trails with different difficulty levels. For instance, the trails around the Wufeng Salamander Ecological Center are flat and well-maintained, making them perfect for a relaxed stroll for families or general visitors. Trails like the Giant Trees Trail, however, have some sections with stairs and slopes, classifying them as moderately difficult and requiring better physical fitness. It is recommended that visitors choose trails suitable for their physical condition.
Generally, general visitors going to the Wufeng Visitor Center in Shei-Pa National Park and engaging in activities within the open areas or trails typically do not need to apply for an entry permit or pass in advance. However, if you plan to enter ecological protection areas or special restricted zones that require approved applications, such as Dabajian Mountain, you must submit an application to the Shei-Pa National Park Administration and obtain permission before entry.

Zhang Xueliang's Former Residence is located in the Qingquan settlement near Wufeng and serves as an important cultural and historical highlight of a Shei-Pa Wufeng trip. This was one of the places where 'Young Marshal' Zhang Xueliang lived during his house arrest in Taiwan. After reconstruction, the residence is now a memorial hall. Here, visitors can learn about General Zhang Xueliang's life story, historical background, and his life experiences through exhibitions, experiencing that special period of history.
