During the Japanese colonial period, the area was used as a sanatorium, and after the war it was converted into military barracks and developed into a military village with hot spring baths. It is the only military village in Taiwan with hot spring baths, and has well-preserved military village buildings from each period.

Fu Ji Temple Located on Hot Springs Road in Beitou District, Fu Ji Temple is a Japanese Shingon Buddhist temple established in 1905. The temple enshrines the Yumori Kannon deity and has been treasured as the guardian temple of the hot springs in the area. In 1998, it was designated a city-designated historic site, and the simple Japanese-style architecture and worship ceremonies are still held here.

Geothermal Valley
A geothermal valley where carefully selected water at 80 to 100 degrees springs forth. The steam rising from the emerald green spring creates a fantastical landscape. You can explore the surrounding area on footpaths.

Xinbeitou Xingtian Temple, also known as Zhongyi Temple and the Beitou annex of Taipei Xingtian Temple, is a Taoist temple founded in 1965. It is dedicated mainly to Guan Yu and features beautiful architecture and luxurious decorations. It is deeply revered by local people and holds annual events. Taipei Xingtian Temple is mainly visited by people to pray for business success, safety of the family, luck at work, and health, while Beitou Xingtian Temple was built by local residents and is often used to pray for safety, peace, and health in the area.
