In 2025, we will not be traveling to Gotemba Premium Outlets on July 19 and 20, August 9 and 10, October 11 and 12, and November 1, 2, 22, and 23 due to anticipated heavy traffic congestion.

Fuji 5th Station, situated at approximately 2,300 meters above sea level, serves as a popular point for both hikers and sightseers. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Fuji Five Lakes and, on clear days, witness a stunning sea of clouds. The station features various souvenir shops, restaurants, and a post office, offering a unique high-altitude experience and a chance to immerse in the mountain's atmosphere.
From the Fuji 5th Station, visitors are typically treated to magnificent, close-up views of Mount Fuji's summit. This elevated vantage point provides a unique perspective of the mountain's volcanic slopes, often above the lower cloud cover. On exceptionally clear days, the expansive surrounding landscape, including distant lakes, is also visible, offering an unforgettable scenic experience.
Gotemba Premium Outlets is a renowned shopping destination due to its extensive collection of international and Japanese luxury brands. It offers a wide variety of fashion, accessories, sporting goods, and household items at attractive outlet prices. The spacious, open-air layout provides a pleasant shopping environment, making it ideal for those seeking a diverse retail experience.
Yes, Mount Fuji is frequently visible from Gotemba Premium Outlets, particularly on clear days. The outlet complex is strategically located to offer spectacular views of the mountain, enhancing the shopping experience. Various open spaces and elevated sections within the outlets provide excellent photo opportunities with Mount Fuji as a majestic backdrop.
Owakudani, often called 'Hell Valley,' is an active volcanic zone characterized by its dramatic landscape. Visitors can observe sulfurous fumes and steam actively rising from vents in the ground, along with bubbling hot springs. This geological activity results in a barren, rocky environment, offering a vivid demonstration of Hakone's powerful geothermal forces.
Mount Fuji is often visible from Owakudani, especially from designated viewing spots within the area or from the Hakone Ropeway traversing above the valley. On clear days, the iconic cone of Mount Fuji stands prominently against the sky, creating a striking contrast with Owakudani's volcanic terrain. Visibility is contingent on weather conditions, with clear mornings generally offering the best views.
Lake Ashi is picturesque throughout the year, but the best time for a scenic cruise often depends on desired scenery. Spring (April-May) is lovely with blossoming flowers, while autumn (October-November) offers stunning vibrant fall foliage surrounding the lake. For the clearest views of Mount Fuji reflected in the lake, especially with snow-capped peaks, winter (December-February) often provides optimal conditions.
The "black hot spring egg," or Kuro-tamago, is a celebrated specialty of Owakudani. These eggs are cooked in the naturally sulfuric hot springs of the valley, which causes their shells to turn distinctively black. A popular local belief is that consuming one black egg adds seven years to one's life, making it a unique and symbolically rich culinary experience for visitors.
