Hakone

I was so lucky to have Xia, a Chinese-speaking driver, as hiring a car made the trip so easy. He worked tirelessly from Tokyo to pick us up from our hotel in Kawaguchiko early in the morning, and we drove for over an hour to the 5th Station's Onaka-dori trail, enjoying the beautiful scenery halfway up the mountain. Although our time at the outlet was limited, we still managed to buy what we wanted. Xia was very polite and warm, drove steadily, and avoided traffic jams so we could get back to Tokyo on time. Our guide this time was Yuan Yang, and we also had a very handsome driver. Our first stop was Hakone, where we saw Hakone Shrine and the floating torii gates. We then took a pirate ship to Togendai Port, followed by a cable car to Owakudani. Along the way, we smelled sulfur and ate the legendary black eggs (4 for 500 yen). After that, we had lunch and did some shopping (it felt like the merchants were cooperating with us). The Japanese are really good at marketing; they can drive you crazy. Both the product appearance and the product itself were excellent. In the afternoon, we went to Oshino Hakkai, which is said to be a village of longevity, but things there were very expensive. Finally, we went to Lake Yamanaka to see the white geese. There were so many of them, but they were very fierce and wary of people. The day trip was quite tiring, but it saved us a lot of time.

This chartered tour was truly excellent value for money. We met an absolutely fantastic driver—professional, patient, and with a very well-planned itinerary. On our return trip, we encountered three accidents on the highway, causing a long traffic jam and almost exceeding our time limit. The driver skillfully helped us find alternative routes. Although we were still more than an hour late, he wasn't upset and didn't ask for extra money. He even provided polite service! It was wonderful!
