It was a pity that it rained for both afternoons, but overall I was very satisfied with the trip. Our guide, Peter, was polite and drove very steadily; since there were only eight people in the car, it was easy to coordinate and he was quite flexible (the other six travelers we met were also very nice). The schedule was ample; we completed all the trails within the Peak Lodge within 24 hours, took a tuk-tuk to Maoxing, visited the former Peak Club, and even had a short rest at the coffee shop, making full use of all the facilities. We were delighted to see stag beetles and Mikado pheasants on some of the trails. The evenings were a bit boring, as there was no other entertainment within the lodge, and the rain prevented stargazing. However, having gotten up early and hiked for 2-3 hours, we were quite tired and should have rested early. On the second afternoon, despite the rain, we still completed the Sunny Nostalgia Trail. Since none of the group members wanted to go to the hot springs, we only spent half an hour at Jiuzhize before heading home early.
Our driver, Jianzhi, was both friendly and helpful, enthusiastically introducing us to the best places to eat, drink, and have fun in Yilan along the way, and even offering flexible itinerary suggestions based on our preferences. It was a fantastic travel experience!
