The shop is located right after you get off the ferry. It was easy to find and I was able to rent an electric bike. I recommend it because it's more economical than renting locally.
Boarding is very convenient; you can simply screenshot the QR code. During the off-season, there aren't many boats, so departures are always on time. If you want to send a motorcycle, you can pay an additional NT$150 on-site.
This time, I experienced a combined snorkeling and supine swimming package, which was great value for money. The timing could be arranged with the shop. I saw sea turtles during both the snorkeling and supine swimming sessions, which was very lucky. Winter is the season when they come to forage and watch their young being born (according to locals), so you're almost guaranteed to encounter them. The photos of the trip were very realistic and beautiful. Overall, it was a wonderful water adventure.
I applied for a pick-up from Kaohsiung Station, but due to low demand, it's likely to be canceled. This time, they were able to accommodate a change in time. However, since it takes more than an hour and a half to go from Kaohsiung via Sakan, unfortunately, if there are more than two of you, it's better to go by taxi. On the way back, we went directly to Kaohsiung, but since the route was from above, it probably took about an hour. We crammed four of us into a passenger car. There's also a guy in Donggang looking for someone to transport us for $200 each, so maybe they'll even transport one person. Despite all that, they did their best to transport us, so thank you very much.
Renting two bikes for a day for just 3,000 yen is a bargain. It's cheaper than a U-BIKE. Electric bikes have front and rear disc brakes, making them safe. They're also light and nimble. Insurance is compulsory, with no optional insurance, so be careful when turning left. There are no traffic lights. I applied for my license in Chinese with the JAF in Japan, and they issued it to me right away. I had to print it at a convenience store, which cost about 4,000 yen x 2.
After comparing many packages at various rental shops in Xiaoliuqiu, the Qingxiang Motorcycle + Ferry Ticket package was the best deal. The owner was also very friendly, and the pick-up point was very close to the pier. However, we mistakenly went to the shop… The owner immediately rode his motorcycle to pick us up without hesitation, which was very kind of him 🙏. We chose the joint ferry option (the ferry looked a bit older than other companies, but it was very convenient to scan the QR code without exchanging tickets). The motorbike rental was for 24 hours. We rented it on a weekday and had some overtime (10:30 AM to 3:30 PM the next day), but the owner was very generous and didn't charge overtime fees. We returned the motorcycle and left immediately (no need to refuel). Highly recommended!!
English is available, but using a translator is recommended. For an additional fee, they'll drop you off near the ferry port after snorkeling. We saw about ten turtles, which were very large. We also saw a variety of tropical fish. The weather was hot and the whole family was struggling, but after snorkeling, everyone felt refreshed. The showers have warm water and shampoo.
It's convenient because you can get on the bus right away by showing the QR code before departure time.
