Xiaoxian was a great tour guide; she was very caring and helpful. She recommended and introduced many worthwhile places to visit in Japan, including good food and shopping, explaining everything in detail. The whole trip was never boring; she was also very funny and would tell jokes to make the guests laugh. Overall, I was very satisfied with the trip.
You can exchange the combo ticket for a voucher at the green restaurant diagonally opposite the entrance; it can be used as a meal voucher. Asahiyama Zoo is absolutely stunning in the snow!
The green pond was incredibly beautiful, the penguins were amazing, the waterfall was in the distance with a hazy, dreamlike beauty, the car was small, there weren't many people, the heating was strong enough, but I couldn't sleep soundly.
After exchanging my JR rail pass at New Chitose Airport, I headed straight to Hakodate, then traveled back to Noboribetsu, Sapporo, Otaru, and Asahikawa. The five-day rail pass also included three attraction passes. Although I only used the Asahikawa Zoo and Sapporo TV Tower passes, overall it was excellent value for money.
The visit to Asahiyama Zoo is relatively short; if you want to see multiple animals, you can download a map and plan your route beforehand. The lunch restaurant takes a long time to prepare, and the food is just average; you can buy some food at the rest stop. The Blue Pond and Shirahige Falls are quite beautiful, and the scenery from the bus is also quite nice. Tour guide Yan is very nice; he provides explanations in Chinese, English, and Japanese and will even help you take photos.
