  • Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium
Famous for its whale sharks, Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium offers a grand world of mysterious Okinawan marine life. In the sun-drenched 'Coral Sea' tank, you can view a large-scale coral breeding exhibit. In the 'Kuroshio Sea' tank, the third largest in the world, you can encounter the aquarium's symbols: whale sharks and manta rays. During the feeding shows held daily at 15:00 and 17:00, you can witness the rare and powerful sight of whale sharks feeding while standing vertically near the water's surface. The whale shark feeding show and the popular 'Okichan Theater' dolphin show are the two main highlights of the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. The dolphin show is held 4 to 5 times a day. Be sure to catch both of these popular shows.

    3. What is the Churaumi Tokutoku 5 Pass, and which attractions can be chosen?

The Churaumi Tokutoku 5 Pass is an electronic pass that grants entry to Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium plus four additional facilities selected from a list of 15 popular tourist spots. There is also an Okinawa Tokutoku 3 Pass for three chosen facilities. These passes are valid for 5 days and allow visitors to choose from a diverse range of attractions such as theme parks, cultural villages, and observation decks across Okinawa.

    4. What are the most convenient transportation options for tourists exploring Okinawa?

For comprehensive exploration of Okinawa, renting a car is often the most convenient option due to its flexibility and the island's widespread attractions. Within Naha city, the Yui Rail monorail provides efficient access to key areas. Local buses cover wider routes but may be less frequent. Shuttle services and guided day tours are also popular for visiting major tourist spots efficiently.

    5. Are there multi-day public transportation passes available for Okinawa?

Yes, Okinawa offers various public transportation passes, primarily for local bus services. These multi-day passes, available for different durations like 1, 2, or 3 days, provide unlimited rides on designated bus routes. They are particularly useful for travelers focusing on specific regions or planning extensive bus travel within the main island, offering a cost-effective way to get around.

    6. Can common IC cards like Suica or Pasmo be used for transport within Okinawa?

Yes, major IC (Integrated Circuit) cards such as Suica, Pasmo, ICOCA, and others are widely accepted on Okinawa's Yui Rail monorail in Naha. This makes travel seamless for visitors familiar with Japan's IC card system.

    7. Is ride-hailing or taxi service easily accessible for getting around Okinawa?

Taxi services are readily available in Okinawa, especially within Naha city, around major tourist attractions, and at airports. These can be particularly useful for destinations not easily reached by public transport or for late-night travel.

    8. What are the common ways to travel between Okinawa's main island and its surrounding islands?

Traveling between Okinawa's main island and its surrounding islands primarily involves ferry services, which connect numerous islands and vary in speed and frequency. For more distant islands, domestic flights are also a popular and time-saving option, departing from Naha Airport. Choosing depends on the specific island destination, your budget, and desired travel time.
