In spring, the Orchid Show brings thousands of these iconic flowers to the Haupt Conservatory in a celebration of color and design—and in summer, you’ll find can’t-miss art exhibitions unlike anything else. The New York Botanical Garden is just 20 minutes from Grand Central Terminal by train. Take the Metro North Harlem Line from Grand Central to the Botanical Garden stop; tickets can be purchased using the MTA eTix app or at Grand Central.

  • Know Before You Go: Most of the garden consists of outdoor spaces. The 250 acres are open in all weather conditions, and a visit can include extensive walking, so be sure to dress accordingly

  • Know Before You Go: Indoor spaces, with the exception of restrooms, are subject to state regulations

  • Know Before You Go: Manual wheelchairs are available to borrow free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis at the Leon Levy Visitor Center and Mosholu Entrance
