Product Info

Immerse yourself in the little known history of Jewish people in Tuscany on a guided tour of the Great Synagogue and Jewish Museum in Florence. Includes skip-the-line, expert’s commentary in your native language and optional transfers. Follow the Jewish trail through the turbulent Middle Ages and the Holocaust to the present day.

Book a 2-hour tour of the Great Synagogue, Jewish Museum and the former Jewish Quarter in Florence. This experience will reveal the hidden Jewish symbols and monuments of the Renaissance City, such as the Star of David on the facade of the Santa Croce Basilica. You will also discover the Balagan Café and other kosher shops, restaurants and cafes, especially at Via Luigi Carlo Farini, which was once the center of Florence’s Jewish Quarter.

Here, you will take a moment to admire the amazing Moorish architecture and grand dome of the Great Synagogue, one of the largest synagogues in South-central Europe. Learn about its construction in the age of the Jewish emancipation and step inside to discover the opulent interior covered with colored designs. The Jewish Museum is housed within the synagogue’s walls, displaying a collection of ancient objects of Jewish ceremonial art as well as old photographs, films and objects illustrating the history of Florence’s Jews. Your Expert Guide will help you understand the exhibits and answer all your questions about the political, religious and social life of Jewish people in Florence.
