About a 20-minute drive from Kanazawa Station. Head east on Route 159, then proceed from Narita toward the Higashinagae IC area. Continue east on Route 210, turn right at Maki-machi, and pass through the Tsurube Tunnel to reach the satoyama of Tsurube. Experience 'Tanbo-zome' (rice paddy dyeing), a local treasure passed down in the Tsurube village where the legend of Kagekiyo remains. You will use tie-dyeing techniques to create your own original patterns. Records of this rice paddy dyeing history date back to the 'Kaga Black Dyeing' of the feudal era. Harvest plants native to Tsurube, such as the Japanese cheesewood and Japanese lacquer tree, and soak the fabric in the boiled dye for several dozen minutes. Afterward, soak it in the rice paddy and knead it well... you can enjoy the sensation of dipping your hands and feet into the spring water and the rice paddy. Use tie-dyeing techniques to fold the fabric or tie it with string to create your desired patterns—the final result is something to look forward to. A beautiful gray dyed piece will be completed. Then, take a stroll to explore the surroundings and enjoy your discoveries. For lunch, we will make rice balls with rice cooked in a traditional pot and enjoy them while gazing at nature! Light snacks are included. You can take your finished work home on the same day.
