- Yaeyama Minsa is a textile made of cotton, woven in a plain weave, and produced in Ishigaki City and Taketomi Town. Its most distinctive feature is the pattern of five and four squares, which embodies the wish, 'May we be together for all eternity...'. Yaeyama Minsa weaving goes through numerous steps to become a single piece of fabric, and just as in the past, these many steps are still performed by hand with great care. At the Minsa Kogei-kan, you can experience the 'weaving' process, one of the steps of Yaeyama Minsa weaving, for yourself. Our instructors will provide direct and careful guidance, so even beginners can enjoy the experience with peace of mind. ※For International Customers※ Works created during the weaving experience require time for finishing and cannot be picked up on the same day. Only those who can pick up their work approximately two days later or later, or who have a shipping address within Japan, are eligible to participate in the weaving experience. We appreciate your understanding.
- 【Course A: Coaster Making】
- The coaster course takes about 15 to 30 minutes to complete. Please feel free to join us even if you have a short amount of time. We have three looms available. Please note that for groups of three or more, participants will take turns. Works created during the weaving experience require time for finishing and cannot be picked up on the same day. Only those who can pick up their work approximately two days later or later, or who have a shipping address within Japan, are eligible to participate in the weaving experience. We appreciate your understanding. For shipping, the first destination is free of charge. A shipping fee (￥400) will be required for two or more destinations.
