Product Info

-Matsumoto City Museum of Art-

Located in the heart of Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, the Matsumoto City Museum of Art houses and displays works by artists deeply connected to the Shinshu region, including world-famous Matsumoto-born artist Yayoi Kusama, calligrapher Shinzan Kamijo, and Western-style painter Kazuo Tamura. Through the collection exhibition, you can experience the rich local art and culture by viewing the representative works of these artists. The museum's exterior and entrance are adorned with Yayoi Kusama's signature polka-dot motifs and designs, making the building itself an art space. The facility also features a museum shop, a cafe, and an art library, allowing you to spend a relaxing time.

-Special Exhibition: Eugène Boudin Exhibition-

The limited-time special exhibition 'Eugène Boudin: The Aesthetics of the Moment, A Quest for Light' (July 7 – August 30, 2026) will also be held. This is the first full-scale retrospective in Japan in about 30 years for Boudin, a 'pioneer of Impressionism' who led Claude Monet to paint outdoors. Through approximately 100 works including oil paintings, drawings, and pastels, you can discover the charm of a painter who pursued the 'moments' of changing nature.
