This temple set in the forest is completely different from other typical temples, this one is built inside a tunnel. Enter the tunnels of Wat Umong and see the impressive Buddha images. It doesn’t matter what religion you have. When you go inside the tunnel, it whispers to you the secrets of this world and the old history of this temple built in 1297.
Many damaged Buddha images and statues, some with only heads remaining, are placed along the forest paths, collected from abandoned temples to preserve them.
At Doi Suthep Temple, you can choose to take a cable car to the top (for a fee 20B) or climb over 300 steps to the top
At the top, admire the Lanna-style golden pagoda adorned with engraved gold platesand surrounded by four ornamental umbrellas. From here, take in the breathtaking night view of Chiang Mai from the mountain.
