— What You Can Expect —

As the Thai saying goes, "If you haven't seen Doi Suthep temple, you haven't been to Chiang Mai." Take in Chiang Mai’s history and culture on a half-day tour through Doi Suthep and a Hmong hill tribe village.

Drive through the rolling hills surrounding Chiang Mai as you make your way to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep and the Hmong village. Take in the natural landscapes as you relax on a scenic drive through the winding roads. From the bottom of the temple, take the cable car to reach the top or climb a staircase of 306 steps. This staircase is adorned with the impressive body of the mythical dragon-headed serpent, or Naga, that snakes its way down either sides of the steps.

Reaching the top, admire the Lanna architecture style golden pagoda covered with engraved gold plates, flanked by four ornamental umbrellas. While up there, you’ll get to enjoy stunning panoramic views of Chiang Mai city from the temple’s 3,520-foot (1,056-meter) viewpoint.

Afterward, continue your journey to a Hmong Hill Tribe Village, where you will have the opportunity to learn about their traditional way of life. There, you’ll notice the residents' colorful clothing and get the chance to test out your bargaining skills for textiles, ornaments, or handicrafts.
