- Spot Introduction -

  • SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding)
A popular new activity that has been gaining attention worldwide in recent years. You have likely seen it on social media or in TV commercials. Originating in Hawaii, it is a stylish and novel way to enjoy the water by standing on a floating board and paddling.
  • Yubu Island
A small island formed entirely by sand deposits from ocean currents. Since the sea between Yubu Island and Iriomote Island is less than 1 meter deep, water buffalo carts are used as a means of transport for tourists, becoming a vital tourism resource for the island. You can cross over from Iriomote Island in about 20 minutes by water buffalo cart.
  • Mizuochi Falls SUP/Canoe
A waterfall located in the hidden Funauki area, accessible only by boat from Shirahama Port.
Cross Funauki Bay from Shirahama by canoe or SUP, and you will find it at the end of the river while enjoying the view of the mangroves!

FAQ

1. What are the main differences between SUP and kayaking in the Pinaisurashoku mangrove experience?

SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboarding) involves paddling while standing or kneeling, which tests your balance and offers a higher, wider field of vision. Kayaking, on the other hand, is done while seated, providing high stability and making it relatively easier to operate. Both allow you to explore the Pinaisurashoku mangroves deeply, but SUP focuses more on engaging your core muscles, while kayaking offers a more relaxed and stable paddling experience, suitable for visitors of different skill levels.

2. What are the different joys of choosing SUP or kayaking in the Pinaisurashoku mangrove experience?

Choosing SUP allows you to paddle while standing, offering a panoramic view of the mangrove ecosystem from above, while enjoying the fun of balancing on the water and core training, perfect for those who love a challenge. We recommend wearing quick-drying, comfortable, lightweight clothing or swimwear, with sun-protective clothing on top. Yes, non-swimmers can participate in this experience with peace of mind. A life jacket is mandatory for all participants throughout the activity, and professional guides will be present to provide instruction and ensure safety. Even if you accidentally fall into the water, the life jacket will provide sufficient buoyancy. It is crucial to follow the guide's instructions at all times to ensure your safety.

6. Are there any age or health restrictions for the Iriomote Island Pinaisurashoku mangrove SUP/kayaking experience?

This experience generally considers the age and health condition of participants.
