In Kagawa, there are shops where you can eat udon right inside the noodle factory. Among them, Miyagawa Seimenjo is a self-service shop where customers do everything themselves, from grabbing a bowl and noodles to boiling and heating them. It is often called a spot for advanced udon lovers, but the driver will teach you the process step-by-step, so even first-timers can feel at ease. Zentsu-ji Temple is the birthplace of the monk Kobo Daishi Kukai. It is said that Sanuki udon originated when Kukai brought the noodle-making method back from Tang Dynasty China. By wearing a white vest, stole (wagesa), and carrying a pilgrim's staff (kongo-zue) to visit the Main Hall and Daishi Hall, you can easily experience a pilgrimage in the home of udon. The driver will also guide you through the proper etiquette for visiting. If you come to Shikoku, you must try udon and a pilgrimage. This tour allows you to experience both in the birthplace of Kukai in just 100 minutes of your morning. We accept bookings for as few as 1 person, so please feel free to join us even if you are traveling alone.
