On the edge of the former inland Zuiderzee, the Volendam Marken Express takes you back in time in any season which is why Volendam by the Marken is a must-do! As a guest on the Volendam Marken Express, you will experience the island feel from the moment you get on board.

Enjoy snacks and drinks in The Captains Bar during your journey. Listen to stories from the crew, or follow the audio tour to learn more about both villages (old harbor). Whether you sail on the lower or upper deck, you will feel completely free when you sail on the waters of the Markermeer.

Marken Express takes you from the harbour of Volendam to the authentic Marken, where you can visit the Klompenmuseum, the Markerhuisje and the Marker Museum.Then, enjoy a traditional pancake or local dish at Taverne de Visscher while looking out on the Markerhaven.

Seen everything in Marken? Sail back to Volendam where you can take a photo in traditional Volendam attire. The Volendam Marken Express fleet sails between Volendam and Marken year-round.

  • Meeting point description: Ferries depart from Volendam Harbour. Use your daily ticket to board the boat at any time during operating hours.(Haven 39, 1131 EP Volendam, Netherlands)

  • Not allowed:Luggage or large bags are not allowed

  • Extra fees to be paid on-site: Bicycles are welcome on board for a small extra fee paid upon entry (€1.75 for a one way ticket)

  • Know in advance:Choose between a single way or roundtrip transfer during checkout

  • Note this is a daily ticket, you can hop on your boat at any time during the operating hours

  • First boat departs from Volendam at 11.00am. Last return from Marken is at 7pm. Frequency: every 45 minutes
