It's a wonderful trip. I hugged the fox and it's very beautiful when the fox village was snowing. Every fox was very cute, and we spent about one and a half hour in the zao fox village. After that, we went to the fruit picking, and it's amazing to have strawberries that were sweet and also big. I had 36 strawberries at the end!
On another hand, what impressed me the most were the two tour guides, mitori and another kindful lady (sorry about not knowing your name). They were very passionate, and recommended us about the features or treats in each tourist spot. When I lined up for the experience of fox hugging, mitori lineed up at the most front, and handed me the first place. I was sincerely thankful for that, and hugged my favorite one eventually (you can't choose fox, but maybe it's because I was the first one to hug the special fox)
とても感謝します!!
Our tour guide, Nanichi-san, was very responsible. Although his English was a bit difficult to understand due to his accent, it wasn't a big deal. The itinerary was well-planned, with 10-minute rest stops along the longer stretches of road for restrooms or convenience stores. The driver was very steady and easy to sleep in. Although the seats were a bit small, the minibus offered Wi-Fi. For those who wanted to participate in the fox-holding experience at the fox village, the guide helped us queue up first, so we didn't have to wait long. Lunch was at a restaurant serving Sendai specialty Shiraishi Onmen (steamed noodles), and the tempura, chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), and other side dishes were also very good. As for Ginzan Onsen, there were just too many tourists that day, and it was raining, so it seems better to stay overnight if you want to take good photos.
January 11, 2026. My mom and I participated in this one-day tour. The itinerary was excellent, with both a Japanese-speaking and a Chinese-speaking tour leader. This was a local travel agency specializing in these types of tours, and it had several advantages: 1. Reduced the fatigue of driving and traveling independently. 2. No worries about transportation transfers in bad weather. 3. No need to queue for cable car tickets; the travel agency had already purchased them for us, guaranteeing a spot at the summit. 4. We could use the fast-track immigration process. Although there were long queues, it was much faster than usual. Ginzan Onsen was also very crowded, and the ground was incredibly slippery (remember to wear non-slip shoes!). My balance is terrible, so my mom had to support me. Our Chinese-speaking tour leader, Lulu, was very kind; she helped my mom to prevent her from falling and helped translate when we stopped for food. Although we couldn't communicate with the Japanese-speaking tour leader, she stayed by our side and even helped take photos. The driver worked very hard; driving in this weather requires excellent skills, and I felt very safe riding in his car. Thank you for taking care of me all day, you worked so hard! 🙏🏻 Although there was a blizzard at the summit, so we had to turn back after less than 500 meters 🤣, it gives me a reason to come back again. My mom said this was her favorite day of the trip. Although the weather wasn't good and we didn't see any tree ice, we did see snow. She said you can't see snow on good weather days, so she was very satisfied overall. Highly recommend it to everyone! ❤️❤️❤️
Our tour guide is Ashley from Hong Kong, she is super strong in three different languages explain the itinerary and attractions, and all attractions help take pictures, teach you where to eat and where to be careful where at what time what to eat will tell are well taken care of, and will share the history and moments of Japan, the happiest thing is to go to see the tree ice and Ginzan hot springs, so rock these days thick snow is really beautiful, and the Tibetan king cable car can walk the fast lane is really worth it, do not have to blow the wind and save a lot of time Once again thank you ASHELY for her attentive and considerate help (including helping to find tape and how to choose snow grabs and hiking waterproof shoes) I feel so lucky to be able to follow his group!
Although it was a shared tour without a guide, the driver was very friendly, the ride was smooth, and the time was well managed. The Fox Village and Zao Snow Tree cable car trip was interesting and the scenery was beautiful and spectacular; however, in winter, you need to wear enough warm clothing and hats to visit Zao Snow Tree.
It's convenient, fast, and the process isn't too complicated. You can pre-select a later train to reserve a seat and ensure you have a designated seat. You can also tell the station staff in advance that you can change to an earlier train to get a non-reserved seat!
Matsushima is beautiful; if you go in the afternoon, you can see the sunset, making for a wonderful travel experience.
