Semi-Gobi Desert

Begin your adventure with a pickup from Ulaanbaatar and travel to Kharkhorin, the ancient capital of the Great Mongolian Empire in the 13th century. Located on the right bank of the Orkhon River, 80 km southwest of the Semi-Gobi, Kharkhorin is steeped in history.

Drive through the Mongolian steppe to the Semi-Gobi Desert, a unique landscape of arid desert surrounded by green mountains. Meet a local family and learn about their traditional nomadic lifestyle. In the evening, enjoy an unofficial program with a nomad family. Experience the simplicity of life without showers or electricity, surrounded by nature and the nomadic lifestyle.

Day 3: Khushuu Tsaidam - Ulaanbaatar

The Orkhon Inscriptions
The site is most famous for housing the Orkhon Inscriptions, which are massive stone steles dating back to the 8th century (around 732–735 AD) during the Second Turkic Khaganate (Göktürk Empire).

The Bilge Khan Monument: Dedicated to Bilge Khan, the last great ruler of the Turkic Empire.

The Kul Tigin Monument: Dedicated to his younger brother, Kul Tigin, who was a legendary military general and prince. It stands roughly 1 km away from Bilge Khan's monument.

Drive to the Chinggis Khan Statue Complex, a striking sight towering over the Mongolian steppe. Ascend the 40-meter-tall statue of the legendary warrior via a serpentine walkway, passing through a museum chronicling Genghis Khan's life and legacy.

Before entering the national park, enjoy a Mongolian lunch in a ger/yurt. Visit Terelj National Park, a sanctuary of towering mountains, verdant forests, and crystal-clear rivers.
