Product Info

Leave the bustling city of Tokyo and head to Okutama, surrounded by forests, lakes, and streams, for a refreshing and fulfilling outdoor day trip.

In the morning, all participants will experience SUP at Lake Shiramaru. Lake Shiramaru is relatively calm, with beautiful emerald-green water, and its banks are surrounded by dense forests. Before the activity begins, professional instructors will introduce the equipment, basic paddling techniques, and safety precautions. Even first-time SUP participants can start from a seated or kneeling position and enjoy the sport at their own pace.

After lunch and a short rest, visitors can choose different afternoon routes based on their interests and physical condition.

Morning: Lake Shiramaru SUP Experience

Upon arrival at the Okutama Water Sports Base, register and change into your gear. A professional instructor will provide basic SUP instruction and safety instructions, after which you will be led to Lake Shiramaru to experience SUP on the forest-surrounded lake. Participants can choose to paddle standing, kneeling, or sitting, depending on their fitness level. The activity schedule will be adjusted by the instructor based on the weather, water level, and participants' condition. After the water sports experience, return to the base to shower, change, and rest.

Afternoon Route 1: Shuma Canyon Forest Hike

Suitable for visitors who enjoy natural scenery, have general physical fitness, and wish to continue outdoor activities. This light hike follows the forest trails along Lake Shiramaru and Kazuma Gorge, offering views of the emerald lake, canyon bridges, dense forests, and the Tama River. The itinerary focuses on walking and sightseeing, without challenging climbs, but some sections may have steps, slopes, or slippery surfaces. The hike takes approximately 2 hours, but the exact route may be adjusted based on weather, trail availability, and participants' fitness levels.

Afternoon Route 2: Okutama Creek Fishing and Rainbow Trout Salt Grilling

Ideal for visitors who wish to slow down and experience stream fishing and mountain cuisine. Head to the Okutama Stream Fishing Grounds, pick up basic equipment such as fishing rods and bait, and try rainbow trout fishing in the clear mountain streams. Even those without fishing experience can try under the guidance of staff. If you catch any, you can hand your rainbow trout to the staff for processing and salt grilling, enjoying this fresh mountain delicacy on the spot. (Grilling fee is 50 yen per bamboo skewer.) While waiting for your fish to grill, you can relax by the stream, take photos, and enjoy the leisurely natural atmosphere of Okutama. Stream fishing is affected by weather, water conditions, and fish activity; a catch is not guaranteed for every visitor. There is a cut-off time for the salt grilling service; please hand your catch to the staff as soon as possible.
