Product Info

  • Enjoy the works of the successive generations of Isokichi with exclusive commentary! Isokichi Shinko Pottery Kiln is located in Yahata, an area concentrated with kilns specializing in ceramic ornaments. With roots as a kiln specializing in pottery bases, it continues to handle everything from base production to painting today. This program is a studio tour where Ichika Asakura, the 4th generation and daughter of the 3rd generation Isokichi Asakura, personally provides commentary on the studio, gallery, and works. At the end of the tour, you can enjoy coffee using the kiln's actual pottery. *For non-Japanese speakers: The tour will be conducted in Japanese only.
  • Guided personally by Ichika Asakura, the 4th generation of Isokichi Kiln
  • Isokichi Shinko Pottery Kiln handles every step from base production to painting. In this program, under the guidance of Ichika Asakura, you can see the entire process from clay to the completion of brilliantly painted Kutani ware.
  • Includes a guided tour of the gallery housing precious works by the 1st and 2nd generations
  • The gallery attached to the studio is modeled after the architectural style of the Asakura Isokichi Museum in Nomi City, displaying works by the 2nd and 3rd generation Isokichi. By receiving commentary on these dynamic and substantial works, which stem from their roots as ornament base makers, you can learn the story behind each piece.
  • Enjoy original coffee served in the kiln's own pottery
  • At the end of the program, enjoy tea time at the cafe where you can also purchase the kiln's works. You can choose your favorite cup from the kiln's collection to enjoy your coffee.
