    • This is a hands-on calligraphy class for foreign visitors to Japan, where you can experience the traditional Japanese culture of calligraphy. Located in Jimbocho, the town of used books, this calligraphy class is led by a leading instructor who will help you have a memorable experience of this Japanese culture. We will assign kanji to your name in advance and prepare a model. First, while grinding ink, the instructor will explain the calligraphy tools, how to sit, and how to hold and use the brush. You will be carefully instructed on the kanji for your name, or your favorite characters or words, and at the end, you will create a colored paper or fan to take home as a souvenir. All tools are provided, so feel free to join us empty-handed.
