Zao Wakamatsuya Inn is located on the Zao Onsen plateau at an altitude of approximately 880m, boasting beautiful views of the Zao mountain range, one of Japan's 100 most famous mountains, and a 100% highly acidic sulfur spring sourced from its own source, which was praised as a "sacred spring" by the local poet, Saito Mokichi. The open-air bath, carved out of 18 tons of Zao stone, boasts a generous flow of 5,700 liters of water per minute, and the far-infrared effects of the bath will warm you to the core.

The guest rooms are designed with a Japanese atmosphere and great views, and there is even a suite with a semi-open-air bath on the top floor. Guests can enjoy Yamagata kaiseki cuisine, full of seasonal and regional flavor, in a private dining room or in their rooms, and breakfast is a Japanese set menu featuring local ingredients and regional dishes. Guests can enjoy tanka and haiku poetry within the hotel, and there is also a waka poetry exhibition gallery. How to Get There
Parking available for 60 cars, free, first come first served. Parking lot 1 (automatic snow melting) is right in front of the building. Shuttle service to Zao Onsen Bus Terminal.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations 4 day(s) (inclusive) before the selected date are allowed. Unused orders can be canceled for free
  • For cancellations made 3 to 3 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 20% will apply
  • For cancellations made 2 to 2 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 30% will apply
  • For cancellations made 1 to 1 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 50% will apply
  • Cancellation is not allowed between 0–0 days from the selected date. Orders cannot be canceled or modified, and refunds will not be granted.
