- [Asaba Coffee] This roastery and café was renovated from a 130-year-old traditional house. It is popular for its drinks made with specialty coffee beans and Japanese sweets made with local ingredients. The interior of the shop is stylish, with lighting featuring a kijiuma motif, a traditional craft of Kumamoto.
- [Kajiyacho Street] This street is reminiscent of the castle town of Hitoyoshi, with its quaint stone pavement and white-walled merchant houses. Currently, there is one blacksmith shop, and along the street are miso and soy sauce storehouses, tea shops, Western restaurants, cafes, and more. It is also close to Hitoyoshi Station, making it a popular walking spot.
- [Tateyama Shoten] Founded in 1877, this long-established teahouse produces and sells delicious Hitoyoshi Kuma tea, while adhering to traditional methods. At the adjacent townhouse gallery, you can learn about the history, benefits and how to drink tea while admiring the beautiful garden. You can also enjoy various tea-based sweets and lunches, such as bancha pudding and zenzai. You can also experience making Japanese sweets, dressing in a kimono, tea ceremony and flower arranging.
- [Kamada Brewery] Founded in 1931. The only brewery in Hitoyoshi that produces miso and soy sauce using "natural mash" that is aged for over a year using only soybeans, wheat, and salt. Inside the brewery, you can observe the manufacturing process, and you can also sample tea, tsukudani, miso pickles, and more. You can also see the architectural style that exudes the romanticism of the Taisho era.
