Due to strong winds, the day's activities on the mountain were cancelled, so an alternative itinerary was arranged: the Hakkoda Heavy Snow Snowshoe Tour. The staff were fluent in English and attentive to details, such as quickly understanding what clothing was needed and observing each group member's pace throughout the tour. The first half of the tour was relatively smooth, with no heavy snow, allowing for easy movement. We took photos at the trail markers and visited several snow monster spots. However, the weather began to deteriorate around the last baby snow monster spot, reducing visibility and requiring extra caution on the return journey. Nevertheless, we completed the entire tour; those who started later had to finish earlier and return at the same time as us. Back at the meeting point, there were hot chocolates and cookies, which was very satisfying 😌
Customer service is available in Chinese via Line, making communication very convenient, and inquiries are answered promptly. Our driver was Mr. Sato, and communication was seamless using translation software. The driver was very friendly; perhaps due to the heavy snow, several restaurants we had initially chosen were closed, so he quickly took us to other places to eat and even offered to take photos for me. I'm grateful to Mr. Sato for his care throughout the journey.
Aside from the indescribable beauty of Oirase Gorge, the driver was incredibly kind and friendly, the ride was smooth and comfortable, and the timing was perfect.
