Can’t get enough of Otah, the lovable otter, and his otter friends? You’re in for a treat with the otter-ly fun exploratory Hands-on Farms Tour! Hop on the very first Otah & Friends-themed bus from either Chinatown, Seng Kang, or Choa Chu Kang MRT station.

Stop #1 – Kok Fah Technology Farm
The bus makes a stop at Kok Fah Technology Farm, located at Sungei Tengah Road. Upon entering the greenhouse, you will be greeted by a guide who will explain the farm’s unique soilless method of growing edibles. Hydroponics, as the name suggests, uses water as a growing medium instead of the traditional medium of soil.

Notice the neat rows of herbs? You will get to smell the various herbs that the farm grows as part of the tour. You will also get to harvest your own red and green lettuce, fresh from the plot.

Do you know what the guide is holding in his hands? You’ll need to join the tour to find out. Hint: It’s made from coconuts.

On weekends, there is a bustling weekend market hawking harvested vegetables from the farm and other foodstuffs. Although the vendors accept cashless transactions, you should bring along notes and coins as the Internet connection might be unstable.

During the break of about 20 minutes, you can either feed the koi with fish pellets sold at the entrance, watch the farm’s pet turtles, parrots and roosters or shop at the weekend market. Enjoy a complimentary bottle of Honey Aloe Vera drink, produced by the farm as a refreshing treat before boarding the bus to the next destination.
Stop #2 – Hay Dairies

Hay Dairies is Singapore’s only goat farm in Singapore since 1988. The farm produces pasteurised goat milk for sale at the farm and through retailers. As part of the tour, you will receive a pack of Alfafa hay to feed the goats.

In addition to feeding the goats, you can pet and take photographs with them as they are used to human touch. Interact closely with goats of varying ages and sizes, from tiny kids to bucks and does.

The milk that is most commonly consumed in Singapore comes from cows, but you might be surprised to know that the protein structure of goat’s milk is closer to human milk than that of cow’s milk. As such, it is a great alternative for those who are unable to tolerate cow’s milk, due to the smaller fat particles in goat’s milk.

Choose from two flavours, original and chocolate. If it is your first time trying goat’s milk, opt for the chocolate flavour as the slightly musky taste needs some getting used to.

On the bus back, you can participate in an activity that tests your knowledge of Otah & Friends. Listen as the tour guide introduces their individual quirky characteristics, and answer a worksheet.
At the end of your trip, you can bring home these huggable Otah & Friends cushions as a souvenir. As it’s limited to one cushion per person, grab a buddy to collect both designs.
