Dive deep into the wonders of marine life at Taiwan’s latest attraction—XPark Aquarium!
Making a splash earlier this month—7 August, to be exact—the nearly 15,000-square meter aquarium in northwestern Taoyuan is the first overseas facility of Japanese theme park operator Yokohama Hakkeijima Inc. under Seibu Holdings, Inc. and is a joint venture with Taiwan’s Cathay Life Insurance.
XPark Aquarium is part of a massive recreational complex that also includes a hotel, cinema, and outlet mall, which has partially opened as well.
As the crown jewel of the entire complex, XPark Aquarium strives to create the most immersive experience for guests by recreating temperatures, humidity, and even aromas to mimic different living environments—a statement from Cathay Life Insurance said.
True enough, the newly-opened aquarium is among the most technologically-advanced of its kind today. On your visit, make sure you don’t miss these highlights:
Healing Jellyfish Exhibit

Perhaps the most eye-catching exhibit in the aquarium, this experiential zone features glass orbs and tanks filled with delicate translucent jellyfish that appear glowing under neon lights. In case you’re wondering why it’s called the “Healing Jellyfish Exhibit,” it aims to uplift the spirit of guests through the mesmerizing and luminous installations.
Diving In Coral Sea Exhibit

This coral garden flaunts a collection of colorful coral reefs and a wide variety of fishes. The area is big enough for you to sit down on the floor for a moment to take in the sights and, maybe, snap a picture or two for the ‘gram as a 180-degree panoramic screen projects dreamy underwater scenes.
Formosa Exhibit

The jaw-dropping Formosa Exhibit is home to over 420 species of marine life. It is a four-story-high glass aquarium and to accommodate its aquatic residents, it has a unique ocean landscape for that close-to-authentic environment.
Rainforest Adventure

For a change of scenery, head on over to the Rainforest Adventure Exhibition. The entire area simulates the ecology of a real rainforest with its realistic rock work, trees, and plants. It also showcases the diversity of wildlife, serving as the habitat for various kinds of birds, mammals, reptiles, and, of course, fish.
Penguin Maze

Tangled up and around the aquarium’s cafe is a network of transparent pipes where you can watch penguins in action just as though they’re in the arctic! Watch them glide through the water and adorably waddle on a glass maze overhead!

*Tip-off: Don’t miss the chance of ordering a super cute cup of coffee with a totally Instagram-perfect penguin-themed latte art for your coffee break at the aquarium!
