Christmas in Singapore: 6 Instaworthy Spots for Photos

Christmas is truly the time for laughter and joy, and there is no denying that everyone looks forward to this time of the year. Oh, how time flies and the end of 2017 is nearing. It feels just like last month when we felt like we needed a much-needed getaway, and now we’re either packing our bags for our end-of-year trip or planning for Christmas Eve dinners. However, a question that many Singaporeans face every single year is: where should we go to celebrate Christmas this year?

From the usual Orchard Road light-ups to places you’d never think of, here’s our take on where you can find the best “insta-worthy” spots for Christmas!

Here’s a hint: It’s “bokeh-ful!

Orchard Central

Stretching all the way from 313 Somerset to Orchard Central, these twinkling, fancy decorations will surely catch your eye from afar! These attractions are here to stay yearly despite being a little off-site of the main Orchard Road pop-ups. Don’t be fooled by the looks of it!

Although Singapore may not have that classic white Christmas, who said that we still can’t embrace our climatised weather and enjoy it all the same?

Forum The Shopping Mall

We’ve got great news! A stone’s away from Ion Orchard, there’s no need to go through the hassle to find this mall. All you got to do is to spot this huge turquoise lit-up Christmas tree from afar and be awed at its blue-ty.

Ion Orchard

The Orchard Road light-up, a spectacular street-length light show, stretches for two miles down from Tanglin Mall to Plaza Singapura but the Christmas decorations right outside Ion are not to be missed! Hop on the train and the hot air balloon, and enjoy the optical illusory experience!

The Great Christmas Village

This year, we welcome Singapore’s very first Europe-inspired Christmas Village! Now this is more than just the usual twinkling lights like every other year! It will be here from 25 November to 25 December 2017, transforming Ngee Ann City into a Singapore Version of Winter Wonderland.

With around 25 Pop-up stores and a Christmas Eve Countdown Concert, there’s something for everybody this Christmas – from Fish & Co (now the hunger pangs strikes) to Tiffany’s for the ladies. For kids, there are 3 amusement rides here for only $5/ride – The Ocean Ride, The London Train, and The Tea Cup! Alternatively, purchasing the Family Pass at $15 for 4 rides is also available!

Changi Mystical Garden

Flying off soon? Not so fast! Catch popular Sanrio characters – Hello Kitty and Friends here at Changi Airport T3 Departure Hall. The Sanrio characters include Hello Kitty, Dear Daniel, Cinnamoroll, Gudetama, Little Twin Stars (Kiki and Lala), My Melody and Pompompurin.

Be enchanted by light shows, meet-and-greet sessions, photo-taking opportunities, games and limited edition* prizes up for grabs!

Christmas Wonderland

Making its annual comeback for the third consecutive year, Gardens By the Bay is transformed into a little Christmas Village which includes Santa’s Grotto, one-of-a-kind craft gifts to Skating Under the Stars where you can skate with your fellow buddies! Other festive highlights include a photo-ready carousel, carnival games with attractive prizes to be won, guaranteed to provide you with an unending whale of a time.

Be sure to soak up the magnificently dazzling sights and admire the stunning Luminaria light structures.

For this coming Christmas, visiting the Flower Dome will complete your Nordic experience. Visit after dusk to catch the pretty twinkling lights floral display, and if lady luck is on your side, you’ll even get to see Santa Claus! Here’s your chance to take a peak into Santa’s Cabin, post office (where he receives letters from well-behaved children) to his very-own toy workshop.
