Your shared or private tour begins with skip-the-line access to the Doge's Palace, the pinnacle of Venice's Gothic architecture, through the Porta del Frumento (Corn Door) on the waterfront. This monumental complex was the symbol and center of the political and administrative life of the Serenissima. It performed several functions: the Doge’s residence, the seat of government, court of justice and prisons. The Palace was for centuries the symbol of the wealth and power of the Venetian Republic.
Next, a guided tour through the streets of Venice will take you from St. Mark’s Square to the Rialto Bridge. The hustle and bustle of the shopping district will give way to the quiet, more atmospheric back alleys where the sky is reflected in the gently flowing water, voices echo in the distance and each palace has a story to tell. The ancient 'fondaci' of the foreign merchants and the marketplace reveal the glory and exotic trading past of the city in every architectural detail.
