Munich city is home to several ages-old buildings and numerous museums. The city’s name came from the Old German term “Munichen”, which means “by the monks”, which is connected to the former monastery that spawned it. This city’s history is an undiscovered treasure chest of lesser-known stories and local legends. Munich's history revolves around the love story of King Ludwig I and Lola Montez, a Spanish dancer who ignited a Revolution. It is about the hometown of a young German girl, who later on became the wife of Hitler, Eva Braun, where a carpenter, Georg Elser, tried to prevent the outbreak of WWII by planning a very daring assassination of the Führer’s life. Let's proceed with an inside visit to the Deutsche Museum, also known as the German Museum. It is a masterpiece of science and technology founded in 1903 and contains a precious collection of valuable original technological objects and exhibits. At the end of 1944, the museum was badly damaged by the Allied bombings. The museum’s director managed to keep the last standing bridge over the River Isar to the Museum from the retreating German troops. Experts from all disciplines are there to showcase a variety of exhibitions that can be explored on Museum Island. It is one of the most important technology and science-based museums in the World.
