Drive along Big Sur's Highway 1, a 130‑mile stretch of California coastline known for its dramatic views and changing seascapes.

Big Sur is widely recognised for its rugged coastal scenery and has long attracted artists and creative communities, as well as visitors drawn by the area's sense of space and nature. This tour gives you opportunities to spend time outdoors and, with some luck, spot marine animals along the coast.

The audio commentary highlights seven key places not to miss, along with additional suggested stops, places to eat and drink, and stories linked to the route. You can choose how to structure your journey, setting your own pace and deciding where you'd like to stop and spend more time.

注意事項

  • Please refer to your voucher for final information regarding meeting points, pick-up locations, and pick-up time

  • Meeting point description: It's suggested starting your tour from Carmel-by-the-Sea or San Luis Obispo. However, you can also join the tour at any point along the route and pick up commentary at the next stop.

  • Know in advance:This is an audio-guided self-driving tour; there will be no physical person guiding you, nor transportation

  • You'll receive a confirmation email with all the instructions to install the GuideAlong (GyPSy Guide) App and download the tour. It's suggested to download it before your arrival in the location

  • The tour requires a supported mobile device for navigation: an iPhone running iOS 15 or later, an Android device running Android 9 or later, or an iPad/tablet with GPS and cellular service.

  • It is possible to drive the Big Sur in one day, but to fully enjoy the road trip and explore all the side routes and attractions along the way, it's suggested to stay overnight in the coastal towns of San Simeon, Cambria or along the route

  • The driving distance of the tour is 130 miles one way
