You may start your day aboard the panoramic bus, the ideal way to admire Rome’s iconic monuments in comfort. With unlimited hop‑on hop‑off access, you can create your own itinerary, stop at the sites that inspire you most, or enjoy the ride as the Eternal City unfolds around you.

Your visit to Saint Mary Major will vary depending on the option selected. The standard entrance ticket includes access to the basilica and its exclusive Upper Areas, usually closed to the public. Explore the Loggia delle Benedizioni overlooking the square, the historic Sala dei Papi, Bernini’s elegant staircase, and the fascinating Liberian Museum. These spaces reveal the basilica’s deep spiritual and artistic heritage, so be sure to dedicate enough time to enjoy them fully.

The audioguide option is ideal for visitors seeking independence and insight. It includes skip‑the‑line entry and detailed audio commentary at your own pace, but does not grant access to the Upper Areas.

  • Please refer to your voucher for final information regarding meeting points, pick-up locations, and pick-up time

  • Meeting point description: Get on board the pink buses from any of the stops available and have your entrance voucher for Saint Mary Major handled by the staff onboard.

  • Not allowed:Eating and drinking on the bus is not permitted

  • Know in advance:You may start the experience however you prefer. Board any pink Hop On Hop Off bus at any of the 8 stops; onboard staff will provide your entrance voucher for the Basilica of Saint Mary Major

  • If you wish to visit the basilica first, request your voucher in advance from the Booking Team and go directly to the entrance at Piazza di Santa Maria Maggiore

  • If you selected the audioguide option, collect the audio device at the basilica entrance

  • Hop On Hop Off Operating Hours: 15 Mar – Oct: 08:30–18:40; 4 Nov – 14 Mar: 08:30–17:40 (Last bus from Termini Station)

  • Colosseum / Archaeological Area (temporarily closed)

  • Important: The Colosseum stop is currently closed indefinitely, and buses will not stop there. Please use the nearest available stops along the route
