The 360-degree movie experience, "The Greatest Race," will be sure to get your heart racing and emotions soaring as you are immersed in the excitement of Derby Day. Projected with state-of-the-art laser technology, "The Greatest Race" puts you at the center of the action—from the first thunder of hooves to the roar of the crowd. Emotional, exhilarating, and unforgettable, it’s a must-see Louisville experience that leaves audiences breathless.
Cap off your visit with a Guided Track Visit on the grounds of historic Churchill Downs. Walk through the Grandstands where thousands of people roar with excitement on Derby day. Your Tour Guide will lead you to the rail of the legendary dirt track where every Derby winner has raced, from Aristides to 2026 Derby Winner Golden Tempo. Your Guide will share stories of the early days of the Kentucky Derby through its transformation into the iconic event it is today.
As part of your visit, don't forget to stop by the Kentucky Derby Museum Store or the Derby Cafe and Bourbon Bar! What To Bring: Comfortable shoes
Know Before You Go: Please note: The Kentucky Derby Museum General Admission with Guided Track Visit ticket does not include entry to racing at Churchill Downs.
Know Before You Go: Accessibility: Free wheelchair rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis upon check-in at the Museum. An induction loop is also available in select exhibits for the hearing impaired.
Know Before You Go: Tour Information: Upon arrival at the Museum and check-in at the front desk, a team member will schedule you for the next available showing of "The Greatest Race" and Guided Track Visit.
Know Before You Go: Tours are outdoors and will depart rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, the Museum will do its best to reschedule your tour experience, however, tours may be shortened or cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.
