From Tacna: Inca Trail, Stone Forest, and Ticaco Hot Springs｜Peru

The adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel and a drive to the high Andean areas of the region. During the journey, you will make a stop at the Apacheta, one of the highest points on the route. Here you'll learn about the Andean tradition of making offerings to the Pachamama, an ancestral custom that symbolizes gratitude and respect for nature. From here, you'll also enjoy stunning views of the mountain range and the region's volcanoes.

The next stop will be at Matrimonio de Piedra, a curious rock formation associated with an ancient local legend. You'll continue on to Tarucachi, where you'll visit its historic colonial church, renowned for the paintings and iconography made with natural pigments that decorate its interior.

Later, you'll arrive in the town of Tarata, one of the most traditional villages in Tacna. Here you'll see its Plaza de Armas, the local market, and the San Benedicto Church, built with quarry stone.

From Tarata, you can take an optional hike along a stretch of the ancient Inca Trail, or Qhapaq Ñan. During the tour, you'll see well-preserved agricultural terraces, small waterfalls, pre-Inca and Inca archaeological remains of Santa María, and the impressive Qalaqala Stone Forest, a place surrounded by history and unique landscapes.

The experience continues at the Ticaco hot springs, where you'll have time to relax and enjoy a refreshing soak surrounded by the tranquility of the Andes.

Before returning to Tacna, you'll make a stop to enjoy the typical cuisine of the region.
