Experience an exclusive private stargazing tour at Starlingua Ranch, an off-grid 60-acre dark sky ranch in Terlingua, Texas. Enjoy absolute silence and one of the darkest skies in North America.
Because every tour is private, the night belongs to your group alone. There's no line at the telescope and no schedule to keep. Linger on a target as long as you like, come back to a favorite later, and ask as many questions as you want. Tell me what you're curious about and I'll build the night around it, whether that's planets, galaxies, astrophotography, or simply learning your way around the sky.
Begin your evening by sinking into a zero-gravity recliner on the observation deck with a cold drink and a pair of astronomy binoculars. Watch as the desert sky fades from twilight to true dark and the brightest stars and planets begin to appear.
Follow a green laser across the night sky to locate the constellations, planets, and the Milky Way and hear the stories behind them, from Greek myths to Native American sky lore, including the first woman in recorded history to be ghosted by a man.
Step up to the telescope and watch the Great Hercules Cluster resolve into hundreds of individual stars. Depending on the season, moon phase, and conditions, your night may include double stars like the Horse and Rider, open clusters such as the Seven Sisters, the Andromeda Galaxy, planetary nebulae like the Owl, and when they're above the horizon, the rings of Saturn and the craters of the Moon.
Cap off the night by capturing a stunning, long-exposure Astro Portrait, a professional, high-quality picture of your group standing together under the star-filled night sky. With the Corazones Peaks framing the southern sky while the Milky Way stretches overhead, leave with a photograph you couldn't take anywhere else.
Private tours suit couples looking for a romantic evening, families with children of any age, groups of friends, and anyone marking a birthday, anniversary, engagement, or special occasion. No experience necessary. Most guests have never looked through a telescope before.
If I have to cancel the night because of bad weather, you get a full refund.
Tours begin about an hour after sunset and run approximately 2.5 hours. The entire night is spent at Starlingua Ranch, located off Terlingua Ranch Rd at 51 Wildflower Way, about 15 miles north of Terlingua Ghost Town via TX-118.
